Charbighya
This is the scene at our largest paddy field on Independence Day in 2023. The land flooded above the height of the road.
This year the water is more manageable. Baranpool seedlings were planted on time and it is expected that they will manage to deal with the level of water we expect this year. Baranpool (Baranphul?) scented rice is a much prized local variety. The yield is not as high as the common BB11, but it is soft and delicate, perfect for khichhri. We successfully grew the seeds in our own nursery.
As we did not grow quite enough ourselves we collected some seedlings from neighbours.
Planting of paddy was fully completed on 14th August 2025. This is Rankali where the last nursery beds have now been planted.
